Duncan Says: An utterly mind-blowing wine. Brunello is one of my favourite Italian wine regions, and this is among the best.

Tasting Notes: Like an old treasure chest, gentle spice, blackberry fruit, lightly sappy on the palate, with cherries and tiny wild strawberries. Tannins are very fine and refined, with superb length.

Grape: Sangiovese

Best Enjoyed: Save for the most special of Sunday Roasts. Drink now (with a good decant) to 2030.

Good to Know: It’s the almost obsessive attention to detail that sets Cupano apart. Before planting his land, Lionel carried up rocks from the Ombrone river bank to improve grounding and drainage. Each vine in the 7 hectares of vineyards was planted by his own hand, and his meticulous attention extends to pruning individual bunches with nail-scissors! It is also completely organic and some biodynamic practices. \n \n
