Supper Club with Miss Vietnam: 12th July

Tasting Notes for the Evening's Pairings

At this supper club event we showcased four magnificent wines, a welcome glass of fizz and then one for each course, to ensure that all the food had beautiful wine pairings to match its deliciousness! Here’s a handy reminder of the wines we all enjoyed; you can purchase them by following the links in the headings.

Welcome fizz – Rosé Royal, Chile

To kick things off, what better way to welcome you to our humble abode than with a fabulous bit of fizz? Putting a little sparkle into your evening is this 100% Pinot Noir pink bubbly from Undurraga, one of Chile's most prestigious wineries. The ideal apéritif, it offers abundant notes of fresh red berries combined with subtle floral hints of rose.

Spring & summer rolls with mango salad – Vinho Verde Rosé, Portugal

The starter is a South Asian classic, with fresh fruit and veggies, and chicken & prawn or tofu options. What better pairing than pure Portuguese summer in a glass, Este Rosé? This youthful delight is a lovely, bouncy, versatile wine packed with raspberries, strawberries and red apples. Bottled with a small and deliberate spritz, it should match the lightness and freshness of the food perfectly.

Curry, stir-fried lemongrass & jasmine rice – Riesling, South Africa

It's honestly hard to imagine a more ideal pairing than this next one. An aromatic curry & rice combo (with chicken & tofu options) meets its match and finds perfect balance with the Chi Riesling from Saurwein, which showcases all that is great about New World Riesling. Gorgeous scents of apple blossom, lime zest, green papaya, fresh herbs and a hint of slate complement the main course wonderfully.

Mango rolls – Moscato d'Asti, Italy

Into the realm of sweetness we delve, and we're matching freshness with freshness again! Fruity mango rolls with fruity Moscato d'Asti; what's not to love?! A classic sweet wine style, the Nivole Moscato has fragrant floral aromas seamlessly complemented by peach and apricot notes – stone fruit to balance against tropical. The gently sparkling palate is delicate, light and creamy, with a silky texture and a refreshing finish.
